Tanya Torres Art and Design Studio is a place of beauty and inspiration in which new and interesting objects are created every day. Goddesses, spirits, women, angels, abstract atmospheres become paintings that will then turn into jewelry, clothing, prints and crafts that go on living at peoples homes, bringing with them the blessings with which they were created.
These artistic objects are made for creative, spiritual women and men who love experiencing art as a transformative event. They are for people whose homes are shrines, and whose lives are laboratories for the expansion of their souls.
They are for people who seek unique experiences, made especially for them and by people with their own values.
They are for women and men who work intensely, and who deeply care about their mission in the world. People who make a difference by striving to be the best versions of themselves that they can be and experience art as a way to expand their souls.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF TANYA TORRES ART AND DESIGN STUDIO?
I started my art business to realize my mission in life: to create the art that my soul wants to express, to be a living example that you too can live your truth, to bring love, peace and joy into the world through my work.
I have always loved creating and since an early age a calling to the arts, especially painting and dance. I didn't get a chance to learn dance, but I pursued the visual arts until I became an artist. It was not an easy path to take, but after trying many other "sensible" alternatives, I had to listen to my soul, and art became my only choice.
It was after moving to East Harlem, NYC, that I was able to find a community that nurtured and supported me in my desire to be an artist. And although my art has traveled to many places (like Prague!) I continue to feel nurtured and supported by the wonderful people that I have met here in El Barrio.
In return for such love and support, I want to continue to honor the trust they have placed in me as an artist and provide them, and you, with a unique experience of co-creating art and other beautiful objects such as wearables, crafts, and designs for their homes.
I hope that my art brings you a sense of joy and pleasure, and I hope to offer a way for you to visually express the longings of your soul.
WHAT ARE YOUR CORE VALUES?
Beauty, simplicity, culture, affordability, originality, joy, and a welcoming and healing atmosphere in the studio.
I want my guests to receive an experience of beauty, and to find themselves in the artwork. If they feel moved to bring a piece home with them, I want to be able to facilitate that process by offering ways to make it possible.
WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SAY ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I want you to feel free to share my images and express how they make you feel. I would love it if you share photos of my work in your home or of yourself wearing them. I want you to feel comfortable about visiting my studio when you come by to view the art or take a workshop or commission a project. And I would love it if you want to share that experience with your friends!
I would feel fulfilled and accomplished if after working with me you can say that your life is better, even in a small way, because you have my art in your life.
